Interior Level 1

Living room. Note the built in sideboards on either side of the fireplace.

Living room

Wrought iron cookware original to the house. This will remain with the house when it is sold.

We called this the music room. It could be used as a second living room or family room.

Fireplace in the Music room.

This is a turn of the century (1900) pump organ which has been electrified. For many years it was the organ used in Trinity Episcopal Church here in Constantia.

Another view of the front hall. The sidelights still have a few panes of original glass complete with bubbles and ripples. The front door has the original lock and strap hinges.

Front hall with the original front door. The table on the right is part of the original furnishings and will remain with the house.

Original lock on the front door with key. The lock was installed upside down because, when it was delivered, it was found the lock was made for a door with hinges on the right and this door hinges on the left. You only notice when you look at the position of the key in the lock.

The staircase in the front hall. The stairs have the original treads and banister. The door in the back is to the dining room.

Another view of the staircase.

Side hall on the West side of the house. Note the iron brackets and bar standing on the floor to bar the door.

Bar in place. The music room is to the left and the study to the right.

Study with built in bookcases and window seats that open for storage. The fireplace is bricked over because it is used to vent the furnace.

Another view of the study.

Dining room looking toward the front hall.

Dining room.

Kitchen with modern appliances: gas stove with 6 burners, two ovens, broiler and griddle, new dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer and trash compactor. The butcher block with a drawer to store pots and pans can remain with the house..

Kitchen with view into the powder room. Originally a large brick Dutch oven stood here. It was removed to make a space for indoor plumbing.

Powder room.

Side hall on the East side of the house. Note the bar used to barricade the door, original strap hinges and thumb latch.

Close up of bar and thumb latch (lower).

This is the original door bar. It is marked on one side with FWS for Frederick William Scriba (George’s son) and on the other with G Scriba.

Music room with view across side hall to study.

This piano was made in 1860.

Fireplace in the music room.

This piano was made in 1820 by William Biebel in Vernon, NY and moved to the house on a sled across Oneida Lake when it was frozen in the Winter. It has been in this room ever since. There are Scriba family stories about Native Americans and others standing at the front door to listen when the piano was played. It is still in playable condition. Piano is included in the sale of the house.
